useful advice

Before the removal

 

1. Advise service companies of the change of address at least one month before and check that water, electricity and gas supplies have been connected before the beginning of the removal.

2. Defrost, clean and dry refrigerators and freezers with care.

3. Check that there are no workers (such as painters, builders, carpenters etc.) or external scaffolding at the new house; otherwise advise the company in good time.

4. Advise the company especially if you decide to change what has been agreed in the contract, adding or removing household effects.

5. If you will deal with the packing it is advisable to follow these simple but important rules:

 

a) follow written instructions;

b) write the content and the room the box is destined for clearly on the box;

c) stack the boxes in places which do not impede the passage and dismounting of furniture;

d) always keep boxes containing objects of particular value separate and advise the foreman of their presence at the beginning of the removal.

 

6. Prepare a box with essential items (towels, sheets, soap, basic kitchenware etc.) documents and keys, travel tickets and anything else which needs to be on hand during and immediately after the removal;

7. Make a copy of your house keys and give them to a reliable person, in the event that they get lost in the confusion;

8. In the event of parquet or particularly delicate flooring in your new house, obtain felt pads to place under the furniture (N.B. the company does not answer for damage in the event of parquet which has just been varnished).

 

During the removal

 

1. It is indispensable to be present throughout the removal procedure in order to provide all the necessary information, such as the exact position of the furniture in the new house.

2. In order to avoid forgetting anything before departure, it is recommended to check all the rooms together with the foreman.

 

After the removal

 

1. Once everything has been unpacked, fold the boxes so that they can be taken away by staff from the company.
